What is Korean KC Certification?

Korean KC (Korea Certification) is a national unified certification mark implemented by the Korean government to ensure product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and energy conservation and environmental protection. KC certification integrates multiple existing certification systems and is applicable to a wide range of products in the Korean market, including safety (Safety), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and energy efficiency (Energy) requirements.

KC Certification Benefits

Ensure product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and energy efficiency in the Korean market, protecting consumers and the environment, and improving market access efficiency and brand reputation.

Products subject to mandatory certification must obtain KC certification and affix the KC mark before sale and use.

KC Certification Process

1

Submit Application

2

Type Testing (Safety/EMC)

Conduct type testing (safety and EMC) in accordance with Korean relevant laws, regulations, and standards. Additional testing for energy efficiency and wireless/radio frequency may be required.

  • Electrical safety testing (insulation, withstand voltage, temperature rise, etc.)
  • EMC testing (radiation disturbance, conducted disturbance, immunity, etc.)
  • Energy efficiency and environmental protection (if applicable)
  • Wireless and telecommunications approval (if applicable, RRA/KC RF)
3

Factory Audit (If Applicable)

Conduct factory audit (if applicable) to review quality assurance capabilities, focus on consistency control, key processes, and quality records.

  • Quality management system and documented control
  • Incoming material, process, and final inspections
  • Consistency and traceability management
  • Calibration and testing capabilities
4

Certification Decision and Issuance

Based on the test and audit results, the certification body makes a certification decision, issues the KC certificate, and allows the use of the KC mark.

  • Issue certificate and registration information
  • Approve the use of the KC mark
  • Supervision and Change Management

Certification Notices

Important Reminders

  • Product should meet the requirements of relevant Korean K standards or adopted IEC/ISO standards.
  • After certificate issuance, timely evaluation and filing are required for product changes (structure/component/software).
  • KC mark should be used strictly in accordance with the size, color, and position specifications.
  • It is recommended to conduct a pre evaluation during the research and development phase to reduce the risks of rectification and testing.
  • For wireless communication devices, RRA wireless approval requirements must be met.
